Security and your data
Security and your data
Your company’s books belong to your company. Here is where they live, who can work in them and what stays on record.
- 01
Where the data lives
Kept stores business records in a managed PostgreSQL database (a widely used database system) run by Supabase. Each business has its own separate space. Security rules inside the database stop someone signed in to one business from reading another business's records.
- 02
Who can see the books
The owner controls the company account. Staff and outside accountants each get different access, for the work they need; an accountant's access can be given an end date. You can also add an auditor who can view but not change anything.
- 03
Changes stay visible
The record shows who changed what and when, with both the original and the corrected version. Entries in your books are not edited or deleted: a correction is a new, opposite entry shown beside the original. Issued invoices, payments and reminders also keep a history of changes instead of being silently overwritten.
- 04
Your records, to take with you
The data belongs to your business. You can export your accounting records in ordinary formats if you need to keep a copy or stop using Kept.
A record that does not shift
Corrections are added. Nothing is overwritten.
When an entry was wrong, Kept posts a reversal and the right entry beside it. The original stays where it was, with who posted it and when.
